Can any of you guys give your opinion over which songs really epitomize the album they're on? Here's my opinion
Core-Plush
Purple-Still Remains or ILS
Tiny Music-Pop's Love Suicide
No.4-Sour Girl or Atlanta
SLDD-Hello its Late
Favorite STP Song At The Moment- Where the River Goes

My picks for songs that get the central "vibe" from each album

Core: Dead & Bloated (about being lost in young adulthood in an album about discontent with the world and issues of coming of age)

Plush: Vasoline (I believe it's about both the record industry & drugs, the two central objects of Scott's writing for this album)

Tiny Music: Seven Caged Tigers or Adhesive(both are about being lost to addiction)

No. 4: Atlanta (the ultimate break-up song on an album mostly about his divorce)

Shangri La Dee-Da: Bi Polar Bear (a song abour Scott's violent mood swings on an album about the ups and downs of his marriage with Mary)

I think those all encapsulate the central story behind each album.

lol Wow. I got my STP "P-words" confused. I was gonna write something about Plush and then I didn't, so I guess I just got confused when I went to write Purple.

I hate when I do shit like that lol

Shangri La - Black Again

I think they're too versatile a band to approach their albums with that thinking. The band is more about songwriting prowess. Everything from Led Zep style straight hard rock to Beatles/Bowie-inspired pop anthems. The genius of the songwriting is really in the bass lines, the vocal melodies and the middle eights (middle eights are called 'bridges' in the US).
STP: August 21 and 23 2001. June 14 and 16 2010.
VR: Jan 2005, June 2005, March 2008.

Honestly, I think the singles do a really good job of capturing the essence of each album. (With the exception of Days of the Week for SLDD) STP is one of the few bands that have really good singles and really good album cuts. I might be a little biased, but oh well  ;D
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..
