i think the band was more or less inconsequential and was selected because he needed a name that he could fit words into.

pearl fucking fagots jam doesn't work because jam isn't a group of people so calling jam - which would theoretically be a singular entity - fagots would somehow seem inappropriate given the context. I think the kid is supposed to represent emo kids or something and the mom is supposed to represent a typical emo kid's mom who is just crazy and doesn't spend time with her kids and have no time to take interest in their kids. This is why he is infuriated when she goes to fetch his non-existent STFFP CD. If she knew anything about him, she would know he doesn't like that bandn and would say something like..." you don't have any STFFP CD's, you don't even listen to them.

or whatever :P

sites like that and cartoons like that represent a really shallow area in the mass media pool we all wade through.
