lol.  He "pulled out his VCR" for the tape.  Unless he has one of those magic VHS to DVD machines, I don't think we'll be seeing it.  

I think all of us here at BE should have made it our New Years Resolution to go through our old VHS tapes and have them converted to DVD.  Then, we could figure out what we're really missing.

there is a device called a dazzle that transfers vhs to a . avi or mpeg file then u can burn to dvd or share amongst friends.  dazzles run anywhere from 80 bux - 120 bux   best buy has them.

Yes...yes they do. In fact, they start around 50 bucks!

They don't make the quality any better. So either way you look at it:

Converting VHS = Shitty

Converting VHS while drunk = Even shittier

Now I want one of those things.  I'm very techologically... slow.  I was under the impression that a gadget to convert VHS to something better would still be like $5000.

We used to sell these all the time and they would almost always get returned.  I heard a lot that it drops frames of your video in the transfer..so your vids don't make sense...

It is a cheap solution...and probably work 50 to try..Let me know how that works out for ya

Of course they don't make the quality any better.  That's obviously impossible.  The goal generally is to keep the quality as close as possible to the source.  From what I understand those VHS to DVD machines are pretty terrible.  I wouldn't expect the $50 machine to be great either but it's something...  Best possible scenario is if you have access to (if you are at a school or know someone) some sort of TV/Movie/video editing studio.  I suppose that's pretty obvious though.
