BIRTHDAY GUY: Singer Scott Weiland was born in Santa Cruz, Calif., on this day in 1967. This birthday guy was the lead singer of the hugely successful group Stone Temple Pilots, whose hits include Plush, Wicked Garden and Creep. After the band’s break-up in 2003, Weiland joined several former members of Guns N’ Roses to form the new band Velvet Revolver that recorded the hits Slither and Fall To Pieces. This band broke up in April 2008 and Weiland reunited with Stone Temple Pilots. The band plans to begin recording a new album in November, which coincides with the release of Weiland’s second solo album.
