Pollstar: STP sold $5,200,000 in tickets through June 30
« on: September 01, 2008, 06:45:59 AM »
I found a July 11 article on Pollstar that discusses the 100 top grossing acts from Jan-Jun in North America. STP was only on tour for two months at that point, so it is not surprising that they were not among the leaders.

STP ranked 66th, grossing $5.2M, with an average ticket price of $31.22 (US). If one of you knows exactly how many shows they had played through June 30, we could calculate how many total tickets they sold, and average tickets per show.

Here is the article. Click on the PDF link at the end of the article to see the full list and stats.

Next year the goal should be to beat Riverdance.

5.2 is a nice sum. I can't imagine how much they made off of tour merch.

On a side note, I'm glad to see my other love Marilyn Manson on the list. He puts a lot of his money into the production of his shows.

It's called nostalgia.

I know but good god...I would never pay to relive that part of the past ::) I was so glad when they were no more...I just can't believe there are that many people out there that like to go see them!

They have also probably made twice that since then.  Good for them, especially in this day and age of music.

Um - a lot.  Merch costs next to nothing to produce and is marked up 300%-400% or more.  Bands BANK on merch - absolutely moreso than ticket sales, album sales, etc.

Looks like our boys are doing just fine for themselves.  :)
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

That's not a whole lot, considering U2 will probably make that every show or 2, whenever their tour rolls around.

That's great.  Maybe Boner should worry about writing one decent song in the last 15 years or just stay in Africa helping people. With or without you...with or without you aaahhh haaaaa

Tickets to U2 also cost twice as much as STP.

Most expensive ticket I've EVER paid for.

I wonder how much it brought in net.  Probably quite a bit bc they didn't have a lot of overhead costs...i.e. elaborate stage show, etc.
Know what I\'m thinking?  No?  Neither do I!  ;Þ

I'm surprised that the ticket price is the same than in my country (Arg), I thought here it might be cheaper.

Looks like the reunion paid off. That's not a bad average ticket price, in my opinion. I paid $240/seat to the Rolling Stones and Pearl Jam a few years ago, and my whole group totaled around $1,500.
