I will definitely give the new songs a chance to develop their own identity.  I'm not overly concerned with comparing them to older material, although Take a load off sounds like Transmissions From a lonely room, for me plain and simple.

^ Really?  For me theres a "hint" of transmission and sounds more like AOAs "leave it" then Transmissions.

Okay, my fav albums are no 4 and Purple ,so hearing the new material I really wanted that hard rock sound and was hoping for tracks akin to Lounge Fly, Down, Sex and Violence and Vasoline....but what I guess we are all getting is something diffrent...the band have changed with the times and I guess you have to create anew.
my fav tracks so far are Hukleberry Crumble and Take a Load off....

I think Bagman is the worst STP song since Days of the week, but at the same time from what I've read, everyone seems to be expecting every track to be a stand out...I dont think any band can do that.(save the beatles who were freaks)....if about 8 tracks of say the 12 kick ass, you have a killer album, which I think this is shaping up to be....I'm so pleased that this record happened and have so much respect for STP that I cant wait, come monday I will be ignoring my girlfriend, turning off my phone, stripping myself naked whilst moonwalking backwards down the motorway, howling at the moon......

my fav line so far I reckon is

shattered all those lies, I bought you from the record store....

Scott, I got swine flu , damn you, but you're a genius...

hahaha....i actually enjoyed scott's little commentary in take a load off on the swine flu epidemic. can't speak from experience like you can, but i think he's right on saying the media blew the whole thing out of proportion. one of my friends bet another one of my friends $200 he'd get it...and obviously lost. that's how crazy people were getting with it. i know there were fatalities and that's a sad fact of the whole thing but the media made it out to be some kind of apocalyptic event when there were much other more important issues to talk about.

just my 2 cents...
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

It was like the Summer of the Shark thing. It was later parodied very well... google it.
