Out of curiosity, what made the 12BB shows a disaster? That POP cover looked/sounded pretty good to me.
Really?? Listen to a live STP version, and then re-listen to that one again. Scott sounds mostly pretty good, Drums and bass are spot on. However, the guitar is
awful in the SW version of PoP- terrible solo, and
very poor tone. There is no top end on that guitar setup, and it isnt just the recording. His instrument is muddy and undefined. The guitar playing in the intro part is very clunky (not smooth like Dean) as well, and he carries that each time they do that part again.
PoP aside, I say the 12BB tour was a disaster because Weiland made it so. He was high out of his mind. Weiland would introduce a different song other than the one the band had already begun playing, he'd stumble around stage, slur words/banter, sing off-key at times, forget lyrics. All in all it was just a mess.
There were moments of brilliance on the 12BB tour- the Letterman performance, HBO performance, and a few others, but really, the tour was a mess because of Weiland's problems.
I absolutely love the CD, but I don't want 12BB live Weiland back, ever.
