The No.4 vinyl has all the same problems the CD has. SLDD sounds the same as the CD too, but I like that one better anyway.

I asked MOV what the source was, and they told me they were sent 96khz, 24bit audio files by Atlantic. I suspect exactly the final mix that went on the CD as all the compression issues are present.

Forgot I was supposed to post some pictures here ages ago.

Here you go, No.4 has a die cut sleeve, the vinyl is actually cream coloured more than white, picture doesn't show that very well.

The other is the innersleeve from STP2010.

That's funny, to my ear the MOV release of No.4 sounds very noticeably clearer than the CD version.

I guess it might be a bit warmer from the process of cutting a vinyl master, but the clipping is still there. I think they brickwalled it before it went for the mastering for CD, and those are the files they sent to MOV. Either that or it was brickwalled by the mastering engineer, and MOV were sent those files. But you can hear the peaks are still gone on the final record, it could be so much better than it is. I don't think Atlantic cares about the MOV releases enough to dig out the right stuff to do the job properly, it's just some extra cash for them licensing it out.

I could be wrong though. MOV just told me what format they received it in. That's just what I am hearing.

I still haven't picked up the MOV release of No. 4. I think I'm subconsciously holding out for that remaster I've been pimping posts about for years now.
