Why did Consequence of Sound say it is a 2008 collab with Pharrell? Was it?

The song was recorded around 2006; it was 'released' on an early promo for HiG in 2008.

Cool. Never knew he worked with Pharrell.

Wow. For as much hype as this one had, it is very underwhelming. I am sure many on the boards have heard this song before. Just for me, after waiting for this long and hearing the clip years ago, it just didn't resonate. Can't blame Pharell for holding this version back. I guess with all the anticipation, it was never going to love up the standards I had set in my head. We can now put a bookend to the Weiland-Grean years.

Liking the songs I have heard on Blaster though. Looking forward to the release.

Its been up in the downloads section for a couple weeks now.  I definitely like it better than the obnoxiously cheerful Pharrel version

Does anyone know if "Happy" was the only collaboration that was written and/or recorded with Pharrell?

"Happy" just sounds awesome. Really would've been cool to hear "Happy" in Galoshes go for something more in the vein of this song. It's funky, rockin', has a great hook, a killer vocal, self-confident/fun lyrics and that Artsy-Cool vibe that only Scott Weiland could go for, in his prime.

2006: Pharrell was supposed to "collaborate" with Velvet Revolver for 'Libertad'.  Supposedly he wrote it with Scott (not sure who wrote what, but the lyrics seemed to be more Scott at the time).  That whole thing with VR fell through.

2006: con't: Scott performed 'Happy' live on September 8th 2006, then a month later Doug Grean posted a description of their video shoot for 'Happy'.  'Happy' was supposed to be the lead single off of 'Happy In Galoshes'. Again... this fell through.

2008:  Pharrell as a part of N.E.R.D. released the album 'Seeing Sounds' with the song 'Happy'... the same year as Scott's 'Happy in Galoshes' (which is where the problem arose).

2014: Pharrell reworked 'Happy' for the Despicable Me soundtrack, and to seemingly annoy the shit out of people everywhere.

2015: Finally on February 5th 2015 Lazy Divey became my hero and shared 'Happy' on here.

On February 5th I was exposed to a hidden gem, listening to one of the best pop songs ever written.
