I did think they played too much Chinese Democracy material.  Nothing from GnR Lies?!?

I with they'd do more CD stuff. I'd remove "This I Love" though, that song goes nowhere. Maybe add Madagascar or something.
I think the amount of Chinese Democracy material is appropriate (3 songs), but "This I love" is a terrible choice and Sorry, which has also be played a couple times, is also a bad choice.  I think There was a Time, Shackler's Revenge, Riad N' The Bedouins, Catcher and The Rye, or Prostitute would have all been better choices.  Just my 2c

On a related note though, I saw GnR in nashville a few weeks ago and it was a fucking fantastic show.  Slash and co. have given me two of my top 5 concert experiences now (VR in Rockford, IL in 2005 and now this show).
I'm just not a big fan of that disc.  The show we saw on New Years Eve in Miami in '91 was more intense and a better show than this one, but I'd rank this #2 out of the 5 times we've seen them.  Glad you enjoyed the Nashville show so much! ✌🏻️

Saw them last Friday in Orlando.  Same set list, great show.  The wife came running back to the seat for Attitude, so that's one vote for keeping it in the set.  They did it on the UYI tour back in '91-'92.  I loved that they played Coma!  Axl's voice was the most consistent I've ever heard.  Slash was great, as always.  I agree the drummer was fantastic.
One question, how many times did Axl change his shirt in NO?  He did it at least 5-6 times during Orlando, which was an outdoor show.

The vibe of the show was incredible!  AIC was great, loved the set list.  I believe they opened with "Again" which was my favorite of theirs at the time.  Layne looked like death, his leather pants were all saggy on him.  But he was wailing away!  I just felt the magic and the vibe that they were on borrowed time and were hyped to be on stage together again.

I don't know why my response wasn't in the last post....

Saw them twice with Layne - in 1991 opening for Van Halen and 1996 opening for KISS at Tiger Stadium.  Both were awesome for different reasons.  Have seen them twice with William also - 2007 opening for Velvet Revolver and then headlining, with no opener, last year at Hard Rock Live.  They have much better energy as an opener, IMO.  I like William as a replacement singer, even though I didn't want to.

I read yesterday that William Duvall has now played more shows with Alice in Chains than Layne did.  I felt the same way about Layne's death that a lot of people on here felt about Scott Weiland's death.  I felt very close to his voice and lyrics and was real shaken up when he died.

I also can't help but think about what a waste Layne was.  Their massive touring basically ended after the Dirt tour.  Layne was so fucked up that they were able to piece a few things together over the years, but nothing worth mentioning.  I don't know a single person that actually saw Layne sing with them.  I haven't looked it up, but it doesn't seem like Duvall has been with them all that long and he's already a bigger part of their touring history than Layne was.
I saw them, with Layne, twice.  Have seen them twice with William also.  They two Layne shows were opening for Van Halen in 1991 and also opening for KISS in 1996 at Tiger Stadium.  With William it was 2007 opening for Velvet Revolver and then headlining last year with no opener.
Layne Staley never sang "I Stay Away" live.

Hey, whatever brings Rock back.  You know though, I always preferred Mad Season over Temple Dog & it brings to light how underrated Mike McCready is, like he laid down really cool stuff.  Who do you guys prefer.  Temple or Mad?  It's a sad shame these guys never knew how special they really were.

Mad Season. Amazing disc and two great shows on DVD.

Zeppelin unanimously found "Not Guilty" on all claims.

End of story.

Velvet Revolver / Re: Contraband, 12 years today.

Love Contraband.  Libertad, not as much.  Was watching the live at Houston DVD last night in honor of the anniversary.  Personally, I put Contraband as the best release of Scott's, outside of STP.  Just pure energy, gritty, ass-kickin' rock 'n roll!

Scott Weiland / Re: Six months later
« on: June 04, 2016, 07:04:00 PM »
6 months later I still haven't gotten over it at all.  Blaster was such a good disc and seeing him live last year gave some hope of rebirth.  As has been said earlier though, he was just a shell of the man he once was and only 48....

“Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality. If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail, so what? We’ve been in jail for 400 years.”

― Muhammad Ali

RIP to the G.O.A.T.

Black Country Communion with Hughes and Joe Bonamassa are brilliant, and are coming back next year.
Don't forget Jason Bonham is in there too.  I wish California Breed would get back together before BCC does, IMO.
