I'm just not a big fan of that disc. The show we saw on New Years Eve in Miami in '91 was more intense and a better show than this one, but I'd rank this #2 out of the 5 times we've seen them. Glad you enjoyed the Nashville show so much! ✌🏻️I think the amount of Chinese Democracy material is appropriate (3 songs), but "This I love" is a terrible choice and Sorry, which has also be played a couple times, is also a bad choice. I think There was a Time, Shackler's Revenge, Riad N' The Bedouins, Catcher and The Rye, or Prostitute would have all been better choices. Just my 2cI did think they played too much Chinese Democracy material. Nothing from GnR Lies?!?
I with they'd do more CD stuff. I'd remove "This I Love" though, that song goes nowhere. Maybe add Madagascar or something.
On a related note though, I saw GnR in nashville a few weeks ago and it was a fucking fantastic show. Slash and co. have given me two of my top 5 concert experiences now (VR in Rockford, IL in 2005 and now this show).
I read yesterday that William Duvall has now played more shows with Alice in Chains than Layne did. I felt the same way about Layne's death that a lot of people on here felt about Scott Weiland's death. I felt very close to his voice and lyrics and was real shaken up when he died.
I also can't help but think about what a waste Layne was. Their massive touring basically ended after the Dirt tour. Layne was so fucked up that they were able to piece a few things together over the years, but nothing worth mentioning. I don't know a single person that actually saw Layne sing with them. I haven't looked it up, but it doesn't seem like Duvall has been with them all that long and he's already a bigger part of their touring history than Layne was.
I saw them, with Layne, twice. Have seen them twice with William also. They two Layne shows were opening for Van Halen in 1991 and also opening for KISS in 1996 at Tiger Stadium. With William it was 2007 opening for Velvet Revolver and then headlining last year with no opener.
Layne Staley never sang "I Stay Away" live.
Hey, whatever brings Rock back. You know though, I always preferred Mad Season over Temple Dog & it brings to light how underrated Mike McCready is, like he laid down really cool stuff. Who do you guys prefer. Temple or Mad? It's a sad shame these guys never knew how special they really were.Mad Season. Amazing disc and two great shows on DVD.
Black Country Communion with Hughes and Joe Bonamassa are brilliant, and are coming back next year.Don't forget Jason Bonham is in there too. I wish California Breed would get back together before BCC does, IMO.
