Just found/heard "Fast As I Can" from Mighty Joe Young days and I love it! The funk is awesome and I actually like it more than the new one.

I love the beginning with the rolling drums directly into "Bagman honey!"  The song is such a driving force.

This one just keeps growing and growing on me!

The more I think about it, I believe "bagman" is the universal symbol for what we know in our culture as "the devil".

The reason for the name "bagman" is that this chracter does not limit himself to one appearance, but is known around the world by various cultures in different forms.

The "bagman" seems to show up when people aren't "careful with their vices" and "do what they want".

I love the part in the song when Scott sings "there was a dream, that said we would be free, but now is the time to be real...". I believe this line means that we all have a dream to be free but we also need to be realistic and admit when freedom becomes destructive.

Anyways, beautiful song. As someone else previously said, I could listen to Scott sing "honey" and "sugar" all day long...

I really like your interpretation of the song!

Core: Plush

Tiny Music: And So I Know

Great song.  Awesome road tripping song (just this past weekend!).  Impressed with the lyrics as well.

They sure have come a long way from the "Core" days.  :D

Probably will go into my top 10 STP songs of all time.

Plus, "First Kiss On Mars" and "Maver" makes for a great one-two combination.

Bought it on Friday before a road trip to visit my parents.  Put it on my flashdrive to stick in the car and listen on the way down.

I think it's a great summer album.  Very nice for the summer road trip.   A strong entry into the STP catalog.

Between The Lines: 4/5
Take A Load Off: 4.5/5
Huckleberry Crumble: 4/5
Hickory Dichotomy: 3.5/5
Dare If You Dare: 4/5
Cinnamon: 4/5
Hazy Daze: 3.5/5
Bagman: 4.5/5  (yes, I love Bagman!)
Peacoat: 3/5
Fast As I Can: 3/5
First Kiss On Mars: 4.5/5
Maver: 4.5/5

The mood of the album brought me back to the Purple days, even though it doesn't sound a lot like it, I get a hint of Purple on the album.

After three full listens, I think I would rank the albums:
1. Purple
2. Tiny Music
3. Core (mainly for nostalgia and that hard rock)
4. Stone Temple Pilots
5. Shangri-La Dee Da
6. No. 4

but 2-4 are close together.

I change Hickory Dichotomy to 4/5.  It's really firing on all cylinders.

Peacoat growing on my more than Fast As I Can as well.

I listened through the whole album on my way to work today, and noticed that if you removed Fast As I Can the album flows a bit better in the second half.

9
Then why did you pre-order it?

I'll have to play it a few more times, but it will probably be a "skipper" for me.  I'm not feeling it yet.

I'd say "Fast As I Can" and maybe "Peacoat".   I'm loving the rest of the album so far.

I haven't bought the new one yet.  I have to wait until I get paid Friday.  But I've heard the 4 songs on Amazon, and "Take A Load Off" at Spin.com, and "Cinnamon" and "Hazy Daze" at Billboard.com, and so far I'm liking what I'm hearing.
