Stone Temple Pilots News / Re: Official Vote For Your Favorite Song

I voted for Take a Load Off.

I would really like to hear that track on the radio (even though I have it on CD).

All I will say is that "Cinnamon" is the "Art School Girlfriend" of this recent album.  ;D

my favorites in order are:

Samba Nova
Dare if You Dare
Hickory Dichotomy
Peacoat
Bagman
Hazy Daze

I think those are easily the best songs on the album....

I also like Huckleberry Crumble , First Kiss, and Take a Load Off

I havent gotten into Between the Lines, Cinnamon, or Maver much.

My fave STP albums are No. 4 and Shangri La

Did you like the studio cut of Samba Nova?  I think it's nice and chill.

Song of the year:  First Kiss on Mars (so rich)
Best rock song of the year: PEACOAT!!!

I agree with you about First Kiss On Mars. I absolutely love that song, even though he just repeats the same verse twice. Such great melodies.

I think the best rocker is Hazy Daze, although I do think Peacoat is an awesome song.

Hazy Daze is catchy too.

Hmmm...doesn't sound like anything Weiland would do after introducing a new album.  I mean, when have you heard of Scott canceling a tour because of a drug addiction?

I actually prefer it when a band evolves their sound. If I wanted to listen to something along the lines of Core or Purple, I'll just listen to those albums.

Absofuckinglutely!

There's no musical rock that goes unturned with STP!  That's STP!!!

Hell with the nitpicking.  They did fine.  Was it perfect?  No...but who cares.  They aren't robots.  Scott looks healthy, the band seems happy, and it's rock 'n roll.  Just seems some have started to dissect every move so much that they have forgotten how to just enjoy the band.  Most of the little things being harped upon (fish/tits, Eric deadening a snare) wouldn't have been noticed by anyone other than the diehards, so let's all just chill a little.

I agree!  I'm a big STP fan, and I'm not going to meticulously pick their stuff apart.  Let's face it, small glitches happen and this isn't the first band to run into live performance issues.

Just relax, enjoy the music. 8)

I just love this song.  It's a combination of Scott's Purple style vocals during the verses, his contemporary vocals during the chorus, and the DeLeo bros. style from Army of Anyone.  It's a natural progression of their styles.

Now I know what Army of Anyone song it reminds me of:

"I'm starting to believe it
the hardest thing's to see it
down in me
honestly
the hardest things to leave it"

Keep it coming.

IMO you could put this on SLDD and it would fit right in.
I was thinking the exact same thing. It sounds much closer to the mood of SLDD than any other STP album. Although, I think it also bares a slight resemblance to Army of Anyone.
Ah, I got the Army of Anyone vibe too.  The verses sound like something out of Purple.  <---That is quite welcome.

This has a very space-rock feel to it.  Like driving down the highway at night, with the top down gazing up at a full moon kind of sound to it.  Nah mean? 8)

Talk Show / Re: Talk Show Appreciation Thread.

Dave Coutts is a great guy.  I had the opportunity to speak with him via email and he's really unpretentious.

He was also kind enough to send me a rare remix of "New Eyes" from his days with Ten Inch Men.

As for Talk Show, I still keep those tracks in regular rotation.  Great stuff.

"Take a Load Off" leaves you hanging!  I can't wait to hear the rest of it.

Amazing.

Peacoat sounds very Purple indeed.  I love it!

The other thing I noticed is how Bagman really fits the vibe of the rest of the album.  In context, Bagman sounds very complimentary to the other tracks.

Oh, also love Dare if you Dare.

Thanks for posting!!!
