Administrative Feedback & Help / Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Forum cleanup March 1st

Funny how a ton of people are on the site now.

Don't know about the others, but I'm "on the site" at least 2-3x a week, just not posting comments. There's A LOT more to do "on the site" than participate in forum conversation.

Don't remove me either.  I post when there's a tour in my area, and I attend the concert.

That is exactly what I decided to do a while ago.

I haven't posted in a few months, but I've been around for a few years and visit this site 2-3x a week. Please keep my account active. Thanks very much. I appreciate the work you do.

The Wicked Garden / Re: *2013 STP Song Tourney* - Semi-Finals "Final-4"

What happened to this?

This ----> http://www.belowempty.com/forum/index.php?topic=9197.0

Then the board was abruptly shut down.

I posted the results on the STPfans site that Brett set up. I can't find that thread to reference but Seven Caged Tigers beat Big Empty to win the tourney.

This is the most appropriate thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

Indeed. I don't get to watch much TV these days, but I was able to catch part of RAW last night and I was getting up to leave the room for a moment when the first riff stopped me in my tracks. I knew it was 'Out of Time' but on a WWE broadcast?!? Little things like this make me stoked. It's been a thread topic in the past, I think, on here about which STP songs would/could appropriately fit for a WWE 'theme'. Well, now we have our answer. It's an awesome - although somewhat minor - way to garner more publicity for their EP. Been waiting 20 years for 2 of my favorite entities to pair up... STP + WWE!

Well, this kinda just proves what I've thought all along for some time now...

no one really pays attention to shit I say around here... ever....

I said, what this entire thread subject says, 3 days ago and not one single response, of agree or disagree, or anything... whatever....

On the first listen I immediately thought it was familiar, and on the second I had it.

Disappointed on the first listen too, but slowly warming up to it. As I said, I don't care what they call themselves, because to me this is just a band with my favorite songwriters and performers, the Deleos and an awesome drummer from my favorite band, which is fronted by a guy name Chester Bennington, who is pretty good at his job. Scott has nothing to do with the equation of this song for me.    « Last Edit: September 18, 2013, 10:50:05 PM by shapy »  Report to moderator

The Wicked Garden / Re: Secret STP Memories; old n' new

All these "secrets" are really cool reading and finding out. Some I knew about you guys and gals, others not. So, I'll chime in a bit...

I think, and correct me someone if I'm wrong, but I may be the only BE member that was at the Norva in Norfolk back in '02 when the played, the one and only time performance of 'I Got You.' That was cool.

Met the Deleo bros for backstage M&G twice during their tour with AoA in '06. Super nice, took pics, exchanged some pleasantries, and showed Robert my fleuron tat. Later that night, during their performance of 'Piece of Pie', Robert knelt down in front of me and my friend while playing and then gave me his pick after the song.

Early in 2011, I saw them in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, I had 3rd row seats and after the encore, while taking their bow, fans rushed up. I took the opportunity to get up their just in time for Eric to hand me one of his drumsticks, which was already marked with the STP initials, Baltimore, and date.

Then, later in 2011, I was very fortunate to have gotten to sing the D&B intro, as some of you have done as well, you understand just how awesome that is. Interacting with all the guys on stage, in Atlantic City of all places, was just surreal and unforgettable. (Thanks Laura!)

Lastly, at a Scott show in DC last November, he took 2-3 minutes before playing Kitchenware & Candybars, to bend down in front of me and let me express my love to him, while (somewhat awkwardly) holding my hand.

All these experiences have been so fortunately amazing.

Thanks for letting me share... haha

Show was awesome! Will post full review when at my computer and not phone. Anyway, I did wanna get this out there awhile...

While the guy above me was hoping for AoA songs, I was not thinking about that, but was quite happy to have gotten this... RP joining the guys for Piece of Pie. Unfortunately I ran outta space on my phone before it was over.

I'll be there! Couldn't pass this opportunity, as it's the closest they're coming to Baltimore. Plus, I love AC.

Given the little bit of interest expressed, I decided to check out the Electric Factory show I have. It's been a while since I looked at it. The opening song, Crackerman, is missing, but that's it. No cuts from the second song, Vasoline, til the end of the encore. Anyway, it was a really awesome show. I forgot about some of Scott's banter so I uploaded this snippet for you guys. I don't think any footage from this concert exists online, as of yet.

Anyway, it's the end of Interstate Love Song, then a vulgar lashing from Scott to some fan, followed by an awesome teaser cover of Smoke on the Water.

Check it out.

Also, on DVD, I have the whole concerts of -

Holmdel, NJ 6/23/00
Philadelphia, PA 10/16/02 - The Electric Factory
Rolling Rock 2001

I could make copies.

Is the Philly show pro-shot also?

No, it is not pro, but as a reference, it is of the same audio/video quality as "Lounge Fly" from the bootlegs menu on Thankyou's DVD. That is the same exact performance from this Philly show @The Electric Factory that I have, plus the entire set.

Don't know if this helps. It's from 1993 Germany. Probably missing some songs.

(EDIT) And this, from 1993 Fresno, CA. Mostly footage of the jumbo screen, but quite good for being that. Full show as well.

Pleased To Meet You, Nice To Know Me / Re: Um..

I don't see how Below Empty has anything to do with STP's legal battles. It's not like discussions on a bulletin board can be used to the benefit or detriment of either party.

Exactly.

Remember when a few weeks, maybe months, prior to the shut down, there was a random announcement about pictures and certain media links being taken offline from this site? That was strange, and perhaps should've been foreboding of what was to come. Maybe Rik had a heads up on all of us and kept quiet til it was time to pull the plug entirely - for the time being that is - until he knew nothing else would jeopardize the site. Entirely, I think Rik has had BelowEmpty's best interest in mind at all times. Precautionary measures, I believe.

Maybe BE just shut down to scare away the influx of Linkin Park fans.

I don't know.

That would be awesome.

Did the site HAVE to really shut down though? It's just my speculation, but I don't think it did. Of course, I'm sure we're not privy to what Rik knows, but I think it was a preventive situation more than anything. To protect himself, AND the future of this site itself. I guess the legal fine points between STP had to be set before Scott's tour, and as someone mentioned, I don't think it's coincidence at all. Obviously, Rik must've found out everything was OK for him to reestablish the site.

Whatever the case, moving on...

Hello?

Hello.

Most anti-climactic return of a website I've ever seen.

Sorta like the band itself?
