On Tour / Re: SWB at Gramercy Theatre - May 17th
« on: May 18, 2011, 06:08:02 PM »
I would be happy to hear anything Scott had to play.  What a really cool opportunity to hear him play a totally different set of songs.  Wish I could've been there.  Seems like the day was a nightmare scheduling wise with Howard Stern at 9am, book signing at 7, show  at 8.  Did he really only sign for an hour and then disappear for three before making it to the Gramercy?  I don't see how a signing at 7 and a show at 8 is even physically possible.

On Tour / Re: Rank the STP shows you've been to

1. September 3, 2010 - Borgata, Atlantic City, NJ

As much as I hate to admit it, the Borgata is probably the best place to see a band up close and personal in the NY/NJ/CT/PA area.  The acoustics suck but when it comes down to being 5 feet from the band or the sound being perfect somehow the band wins out.

2. September 5, 2010 - PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ

Nothing like pulling 8th row seats off of Ticketmaster the day of the show and eating the other four tickets you had...it was totally worth it though!

3. October 3, 2000 - First Union Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA

My first STP show.  Don't remember lots of details, but I remember the songs from No. 4 being amazing live.

4. August 8, 2008 - Musikfest, Bethlehem, PA

Weird outdoor fair-type set-up, but an awesome show

5. August 31, 2010 - Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT

Good show, crappy venue.  Drove 5 hours each way and ended up stuck in CT when the ignition column went on my two year old car.  Kinda ruined the experience, the aquarium was cool though.

6. May 31, 2008 - PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ

Honestly, the show wasn't that bad.  But two petite females in a crowd of angry men wondering whether we should leave before a riot ensued, not fun.

thanks so much for posting this...I have been waiting to see images from the rescheduled leg of the tour that showed the same feeling that we got during the first leg.  So glad the boys are back!

Really awesome review...very positive story about Friday night's show with very positive comments for Scott and the boys.  Nice to see some journalists don't focus too heavily on the demons.

According to radio station folks on twitter, looks like Corpus Christie is cancelled too, but rescheduled for Oct 23rd.  They are saying the Texas leg of the tour is postponed.

Would be nice to read one review that didn't mention Scott's past issues.  The man is kicking ass on this tour.  The Phoenix New Times article particularly annoyed me.  Give Scott some credit for making an effort to put on a good show instead of saying that it seems that he's switched from heroin to crystal meth because "...Weiland was running about the stage like a silly little freak, kicking at the air and building up a nice coating of sweat."  Oh, and then saying that by the end of the show he looked like someone who had been on a three day heroin bender.  What the hell is wrong with these people and how do they get the job of reviewing shows while being allowed to add their ownrediculous comments such s this? Argh!!!  OK, rant over...

Stone Temple Pilots News / Re: Billboard.com Chart Position

I really don't know what to make of the lousy album sales.  Really thought a lot more people were into STP.  Maybe the spotty radio play is a factor.  Hopefully, Cinnamon will turn things around.

Was I the only one disappointed by this show?  I drove an hour and half to see them in holmdel because I knew the venue was so good, but it was the worst show I've seen them do.  And I was there last time they played there.

They sounded fine when they were playing music for he most part, but it was ridiculous the amount of BS that was going on between songs.  Still Remains was a mess as the band was not in sync at all, and then they extended it for something like five minutes.  Dancing Days sounded awful.  I don't know about anyone else but I saw a lot of people leave in disgust.

By Sex Type Thing the row in front of my was abandoned including some people that looked like they were really big fans.  I left in between Dead and Bloated and Trippin, and managed to make out to the parking lot before the song even started.  I just couldn't take the nonsense anymore.  If you are going to play such a short show why fill a good 20 minutes of it playing random garbage when you could play a few more songs.  I know on my way out I heard at least a dozen people complaining.

Other than the two exceptions I mentioned above and Pretty Penny which just felt out of place they did a really good job when they actually played music, but of the five STP shows I've been two this is the first time I didn't feel satisfied when I left.

Were we at the same show?

I totally agree with cotis.  Honestly, the band was tight.  I loved the jams, seeing the boys enjoy the night and mess around with different sounds was great.  I don't think there is anything more beautiful in the realm of STP than seeing Scott laugh since it was so rare for so long.  I drove 2.5 hours to PNC, 5 hours to Mohegan Sun and 3 hours to Atlantic City and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  I didn't see anyone leave in discust and honestly, how do people "look" like big fans?  It was an awesome show, no complaints here...

On Tour / Re: Reception of the New Songs Live
« on: September 06, 2010, 11:25:40 PM »
After seeing three shows in the last week, I'd have to say the reception of the new songs was different at each one.  @ Mohegan Sun, people were actually sitting during Cinnamon while @ the Borgata, a number of people were singing along.  I think the show @ PNC really had the greatest # of people who were into the new stuff though Borgata was a close second.  Mohegan Sun was a rough crowd for the new stuff.  Definitely skewed to the over 40 age range, which probably had something to do with it; they were there more for the classics...In my opinion, Huckleberry Crumble and Hickory Dichotomy were the strongest live.

Really don't see what value a rediculous review like this (or the one from the AC show) brings to your website, much less these message boards, sorry.

Just upgraded to 8th row, section 101.  eating my 401 tics, couldn't resist 8th row for $72.  Couldn't believe how many tics were still available.  Almost entire 400 section is empty.  Totally sucks...they should let the people on the lawn fill in the seats.  going to look pretty bad

This was definitely the best show I've been to, overall, any artist.  We managed to get quite close to the stage on Rob's side.  The band was tight musically and joking around with each other which was awesome.  At one point, Dean asked Scott if he could see his panty lines in these pants and Scott just looked at him and cracked up.  Then Rob got it on it and they joked for a couple of minutes, awesome.
The only thing that sucked was the crowd was pretty lousy.  There were a lot of people singing along really into the show, but just as many who it seemed were there to heckle and wait for Scott to screw up.  Saw at least three people get thrown out also.

Awesome pics!  Thanks for posting the link!

Did anyone catch what Scott was saying about Still Remains being their best love song?  Would love to know everything he said...

Don't know what he said but Still Remains is the best love song ever made :D

Just got back to the hotel...
Amazing show!  Same setlist, no surprises but absolutely brilliant.  Still Remains and the jam right after was definitely the highlight for me.  Big Empty, Plush and Dead and Bloated were awesome as well.  Reception to the new songs was definitely lukewarm but Cinnamon and Huckleberry Crumble, especially, were very cool live.
